
The course, "Watershed Hydrology" provides a comprehensive foundation in engineering hydrology and its application to watershed management, soil and water conservation, and water resources planning. Students will examine the fundamental processes of the hydrologic cycle—including precipitation, infiltration, evaporation, and surface runoff—alongside quantitative methods for analyzing hydrologic data. The curriculum covers point rainfall frequency analysis, hydrograph theory, peak runoff estimation (Rational, Cook’s, and SCS Curve Number methods), watershed geomorphology, flood routing, and drought characterization and management strategies.
The integrated practical component emphasizes real-world application through meteorological observation, hydro-meteorological data analysis, hydrologic modeling, stream gauging, and discharge measurement techniques.
